If you can connect to your Slingbox using the sling website, then you should be able to also connect using Jaksta Recorder for Slingbox. Before troubleshooting further, please confirm your connection setup on the Slingbox website.
If Jaksta Recorder for Slingbox is giving you connection errors, here are a few things to check:
Jaksta Recorder for Slingbox supports the Slingbox Pro HD. However, Sling Media has chosen to encrypt the HD stream from your Slingbox, so you'll only be able to capture video at 320x240 pixel resolution.
Make sure to set Jaksta Recorder for Slingbox to it's default settings and do not enable the optional recording settings. The encrypted HD stream cannot be recorded. Feel free to write to Sling Media and express your displeasure with their decision to encrypt the higher resolution streams from your box!
If you're getting a very distorted video, it's likely that Jaksta is trying to record an encrypted stream. This happens most often with the Slingbox Pro HD. For best results disable the optional recording settings and Jaksta will record the unencrypted version of the stream. The encrypted HD stream cannot be recorded.
It's easy to watch what you're recording while it's happening. In the left tree menu, highlight In progress, then right-click on your active recording and select play!
Jaksta Recorder for Slingbox may operate your remote control just fine with the default settings. However, some devices may map differently. If Jaksta is not changing channels as expected, try configuring the keymaps for your device. First make sure that your devices are set up properly in Slingplayer or on Slingbox.com. Although Slingplayer is slowly being phased out by Slingmedia, it is a great tool to see your Slingbox information. You can download Slingplayer here. Once Slingplayer is installed, here's how you can find your keymaps and enter them into Jaksta's keymaps settings:
Each Slingbox has a unique ID. Jaksta for Slingbox will ask you for the ID of the Slingbox that you wish to record from. Use this documentation from Sling Media Support to locate your Slingbox ID.
