Overview

Jaksta Media Converter is an easy, fun way to convert video and audio files to other formats. Whether you want to transfer a video to your phone or other portable device, burn a DVD, or import into your favorite video editor, Jaksta Media Converter is a great solution.

 

Setting Up a Conversion Profile

When you first open Jaksta Media Converter, you’ll be prompted to set up a "conversion profile". This is how you tell Jaksta Media Converter what format you want files converted to. You can change this at any time by clicking Tools, Conversion Settings from the menu.

Here’s how to set up your conversion profile:

1. Pick the device manufacturer or format you want to convert to.

2. Choose the quality from the drop-down list of formats:

3. Optional: To further customize, click the Edit button.

4. Click OK when finished

Converting Files

Picking files to convert is easy: just click the Add Files button.

As you add files, a thumbnail of each file appears. You can remove a files from the conversion list by hovering the mouse cursor over the file’s thumbnail, and clicking the "X" to delete it from the list.

Wen you are ready to convert, click the Convert button. You’ll see the progress of the conversion job for each file like this:

Other conversion options

On the bottom right of the main screen under When Complete, you can have Jaksta Media Converter perform some other handy functions after converting:

  • Add the converted file to iTunes
  • Burn files to a DVD
  • Suspend or Hibernate the PC

Making DVDs

Jaksta Media Converter not only converts files, but it can burn DVDs from videos in any format. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Select Tools, Conversion Settings from the top menu.
  2. Pick DVD.
  3. Select the type of output you’d like.
  4. Add files to burn to DVD.
  5. Click the Convert button.

Note: Depending on your country, you will need to choose NTSC, PAL or SECAM. Refer to the map below if you aren’t sure which option to use.

To automatically burn DVD’s, you can do the following:

  1. Click Burn Files to CD/DVD/BD. The Burn settings icon appears in the workarea:

  2. Click the Burner Settings icon. The Burner Settings dialog appears:

  3. Select the kind oif disc to make, the name of the disc, the source and speed.
  4. Change the order of the files to burn to disc.
  5. Click OK to start the burn.

 

 

Settings

Jaksta Media Converter is really pretty simple, so there aren’t a lot of settings. But you can do some simple changes to customize how Jaksta Media Converter operates. Click Tools, Settings from the menu to open Settings.

  • Hide from Task Bar when Minimized: This option will remove Jaksta Media Converter from the task bar when it’s minimized. You can reopen Jaksta Media Converter from the system tray in the lower right hand size of your PC screen.
  • Enable Sound Effects: Plays a sound when a conversion is complete. It’s more fun with this setting turned on.
  • Gather Anonymous Usage Data: We like to know how people are using Jaksta Media Converter so we can make it better.
  • Duplicate Naming Rule: Occasionally, you will convert to a file name that already exists on your PC. This option lets you choose how duplicate files are named.
