hi anyone able to help please? or can anyone advise where i can get help?
From ed len @ 20 May 2016 02:05
Sorry about the problems with Spotify. We are still looking into a solution for this, it does not seem to be an easy problem to fix.
Are you only having issues with Spotify? In the meantime we do have a new beta version that has fixes for various other sites:

thanks so much for the update- i was just worried that the application had been abandoned! i can wait till the update gets spotify working again thanks please keep me updated!
From ed len @ 21 May 2016 01:05
I am having the same problem recording from Sportily. Have you found an answer to this problem.
From Richard Bell @ 14 Jun 2016 03:06
I forgot to mention that I am using Jaksta version 4.1.6
From Richard Bell @ 14 Jun 2016 03:06
This certainly is still being worked on. We are not able to capture Spotify in the same way as other sites, so we are going to provide an alternative mechanism for recording problem sites like Spotify.
From Ben Graham @ 15 Jun 2016 01:06
I was wondering do you have any timeline on this? Its just in the UK spotify if the only real free site for using and I really miss my music updates!
From ed len @ 15 Jun 2016 01:06
While I am waiting for a fix, are there any other web sites that have as good a selection as Spotify from whjich Jaksta can capture music ?
From Richard Bell @ 15 Jun 2016 22:06
Sorry for the long delay.
We are still working on support for Spotify, unfortunately I don't have a timeline at the moment! However we should be able to capture Pandora and Rhapsody.

Having same problem with Spotify Web player. I click PLAY on a title in the app. It downloads a file named Spotify Web Player - <filename>.mp3 with no track information from a site called cloudfront.net to Music Miner.
This happens with any track I play. I am using Music Miner Version 1.3.9 (109) on a MAC, OSX version 10.11.5. The problem persists whether I use Safari or Chrome.
I appreciate that you may be working on a difficult problem but I echo others on this feed with concern that you provide no detail of the problem or time line for its resolution.

Sorry I can't really give an ETA at the moment, but we certainly are working on it. The solution we are working on involves recording audio directly instead of extracting it from intercepted network communication. In a sense, intercepting it between the browser and the speakers, instead of intercepting it between the internet and the browser. The Windows version already has a similar feature which already works with Spotify.
From Ben Graham @ 21 Jul 2016 13:07
Thank you Ben. An intriguing solution. I will watch this space and meanwhile, check out the Windows version for a preview.
From Ray Weston @ 21 Jul 2016 16:07
I have the windows version as mentioned in my earlier emails. How do you record from Spotify as you have just described to Ray? ( between the browser and the speakers)
From Richard Bell @ 22 Jul 2016 08:07
It records in real time from the Windows Spotify app, instead of downloading from the web player.
From Ray Weston @ 22 Jul 2016 15:07
Sorry, you are right they are not identical, the Windows version uses different mechanisms and works with the Spotify app instead.
From Ben Graham @ 25 Jul 2016 13:07
Windows version works with the browser and/or Spotify app. Pretty much any app that produces audio be that something playing in the browser or via an app such as spotify.

Hi there, has there ever been any update on this? I was wondering if it works with spotify yet?
From ed len @ 08 Oct 2016 00:10
Not yet. Sorry it's taking such a long time, but we are still working on it and hope to release it soon.
From Ben Graham @ 12 Oct 2016 12:10
Hi there, any progress to report?
From ed len @ 02 Feb 2017 20:02
Hi again Ed,
Sad to report that this still has not been resolved. Spotify is proving to be quite stubborn.
We are planning on releasing a major update to V2.0 in the next several months, and this should be resolved with it.
From Liam @ 15 Feb 2017 11:02
Is this a DRM issue? Is Apple and Spotify conspiring to prevent you fixing this problem? Seems odd that you can release a solution on Windows but not on OSX. A solution has been outstanding for nearly a year now. When is v2 scheduled? Please note my email has changed to email@example.com
From Ray Weston @ 03 Apr 2017 15:04
V2 is due end of this week or early next. You should receive a notification about it once it is released.
The Windows version of Jaksta is VERY different to the Mac version, both in how it functions and what it does. That is why we have separate forums for them and why something can work on one and not the other.
What makes Spotify so difficult is that they change up their streaming methods and try to add/change things to prevent the capture. Lots of sites/content providers do this, which is why we are continually updating to try and adapt, but some make it harder than others.
I have changed your email address in our system.
From Liam @ 05 Apr 2017 10:04
Very informative, much appreciated. Looking forward to V2 Ray
From Ray Weston @ 05 Apr 2017 15:04
Two months ago and still no V2. What's happening?
From Ray Weston @ 06 Jun 2017 02:06
Version 2.0 was released in April. You can download from here - https://www.jaksta.com/download/mac/jaksta-music-recorder
From CRS @ 06 Jun 2017 09:06
i have downloaded it ray and guess what- it still doesn't work with spotify
From ed len @ 06 Jun 2017 23:06
Jaksta Music Recorder now features a new recording method called Audio Capture mode. You can set it to this mode by changing it from Streaming Mode to Audio Capture Mode in the drop down menu at the bottom of the main screen.
This mode was introduced largely to accomodate the download and recording of Spotify songs/playlists. As you are well aware, Spotify has given us grief for some time when it comes to downloading via the normal stream capture method. So we created this new capture method as a workaround.
You will want to read the User Guide to make sure you know how to configure and use this mode properly: https://www.jaksta.com/support/mac/kb/user-guide-jaksta-music-recorder-for-mac-6000031390
The info you will want to take note of specifically regarding this mode is near the start of the guide and then also towards the bottom, under the Preferences breakdown section.
From Liam @ 07 Jun 2017 09:06
Thank you Liam, I found this out by trial and error.
Some web sites, including Spotify I guess, use encryption when streaming audio. In Streaming Mode, Jaksta Music Recorder will download but does not always convert encrypted streams. For example, I was able to stream and convert from YouTube but not Spotify. Both processes produced .m4a files but only the tracks from YouTube would play.
If the stream does not convert then you can set Audio Capture Mode which will detect and capture the audio from the device rather than from the stream itself. To be able to use and adjust the settings of Audio Capture Mode, monitoring must be set to OFF. To start recording it must then be turned back ON. It captures a .wav file which it converts to .mp3. Of course this happens in real time, just like capturing audio from vinyl but, I found this preferable and more reliable.
Finally though, I was not impressed at having to pay for the upgrade, allbeit only 10 bucks. I expected a free upgrade considering the previous version was not fit for purpose and it took 10 months fix the problems.
