Jaksta Media Recorder for Windows for Windows Technical Support Forum

instagram stories

Hi,

I always used to save videos from instagram stories by going to settings and then media in firefox or google chrome and save the video from there but as of today that doesn't work anymore.

I don't know if Jaksta was able to download videos successfully from instagram stories in the past but I used auto mode with Jaksta in google chrome and it saved the instagram stories but vlc media player and the movies & tv app aren't able to play them.

I forgot to say that the problem is with the instagram stories that will disappear after 24 hours.

Jaksta Media Recorder has no problem downloading the instagram stories that some people have permanently embedded as highlights on their page.

How do I find stories on instagram that will disappear after 24 hours?

Please provide debug logs as per https://www.jaksta.com/support/windows/technical/jaksta-media-recorder/how-to-generate-debug-logs-6000009063

 Hi,

the instagram stories that disappear after 24 hours can be viewed by clicking on the circular profile pictures of accounts that you follow that you see at the top of the home instagram page or when you are on someone's instagram page you can click on the big circular profile picture on the left side of their name.
Jaksta Media Recorder will download the videos and say they are complete but not show a time duration and I can't play them.

When you click on the smaller circular pictures below the profile picture that show instagram stories that have been permanently embedded as highlights then Jaksta Media Recorder downloads the videos ok and I can play them without a problem.

I have found that for the instagram stories videos that disappear after 24 hours, when you download them with Jaksta Media Recorder and can't play them, when you go to properties in Jaksta and copy the source into firefox it will say no video with supported format and MIME type found, when you go into the url and after the numbers 276363 you delete everything starting with &bytestart= until the end of the url then the video will appear in the browser but without sound.

I want to revisit this old post I made.
My Jaksta Media Recorder is not able to download videos from Instagram stories that are only available for 24 hours.
These Instagram stories that disappear after 24 hours can be viewed by clicking on the circular profile picture of an instagram account.
When I enter the url into Jaksta Media Recorder, it gives an error and when I use auto mode, it downloads the video in 1 or several files that can't be played back.

I am able to download most but not all regular Instagram videos or reels as they are called on there by entering the url into Jaksta Media Recorder.
When I use auto mode it downloads the video in 1 or several files that can't be played back.

There are also permanently embedded Instagram stories which can be viewed by clicking on the circular pictures underneath the big circular profile picture.
When I enter the url from these permanently embedded stories in Jaksta Media Recorder, it is able to download videos from some but not from all accounts.
When I use auto mode for these stories it  downloads the video in 1 or several files that can't be played back.

Is anyone else experiencing this same issue?
