First will be great if You add timer for start or finish record. It is mean If I will start record and I would like record just 1 hour then will be great if I programming timer to finish.
Second, will be top on the top if You add coul down computer after finish record.

You can use the Scheduler to do that.
On the:
General tab select quit the application.
Schedule tab enter the duration you wish.
