Jaksta Media Recorder for Windows for Windows Technical Support Forum

Unable to start Jaksta

I have just installed Jaksta (7.0.0.18) on my Windows XP sp3 computer. Whenever I try to open Jaksta, I receive an Unexpected Fatal Error message: "The requested security protocol is not supported..." (see attached file for screenshot). I believe that this could be a NET.Framework message. I have NET.Framework 4.0 installed. You stated that Jaksta supports Windows XP.

What can I do to get past this hurdle and get Jaksta up and running?

XP does not support TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 hence the error.  Support for this was added in 7.0.0.17.

You will need to use 7.0.0.14  on XP

https://d2nncct4cgzns7.cloudfront.net/release/jak7/JMR7/7.0.0.14/JMR7-7.0.0.14.exe

I'll see if we can add a check for XP in a future version.

Many thanks for your prompt reply. I will download and install 7.0.0.14, and I am sure that will help. I hope that this is not the end of the line for Jaksta updates for the XP, though.

I have now downloaded and installed 7.0.0.14. Unfortunately, it does not recognise the BBC iPlayer, the main reason that I am interested in Jaksta. I note that changes were made in 7.0.0.18 to take recent changes to BBC iPlayer. Is it likely or possible that an update of Jaksta will both work on Windows XP and allow downloading of BBC iPlayer videos?

Thank you for your help

Many thanks for your responsiveness. I have installed the latest release that you provided, JMR7-7.0.0.20. It installs and runs OK. However, when I try to download a BBC iPlayer video, it is still not detected when Auto detection is ON, and when I try to drag the URL to Jaksta, I receive an error message "URL is not supported. Please try the Auto or DVR capture methods". Am I doing anything wrong? I am still running the Trial version, and I wanted to assure myself that I could download BBC iPlayer videos before registering. Is Auto detection not available in Trial version? Is it not possible to download BBC iPlayer videos in Jaksta except by using the DVR option - this would not be my preferred option, and in any case, I cannot test this in the Trial version.

Many thanks for your help

BBC works fine, however, your on XP and I'm not sure what will and won't work on XP given how old and out of date it is.

Are you in the UK?  BBC is geo restricted so if you are not you will need to use something like unblock-us.com.

Upload the log files following these instructions: https://support.jaksta.com/discussions/topics/6000009063  and Ill see if there is something obvious.
