Jaksta Media Recorder for Windows for Windows Technical Support Forum

Can't record Vudu.com

I am using the latest Trial version on Windows 10 21H1

Following the instructions, I have tried using the DVR Browser, but when playing any program on Vudu.com, I get a "Playback error" message (see attached).

I have attached the log files.

Thanks,

Michael

In the DVR browser,  please go to vivaldi://components and check that the Widevine component is installed.

Also check you are not trying to play UHD/HDX,  https://support.vudu.com/en_us/categories/web-and-mobile-browsers-B1M4BbvyF

The Widevine component is installed.

I tried an SD only program and I got the same error message.

Update: I got the video to play by disabling Hardware Acceleration in Settings.

However, the recording is still not working. I start the video in the DVR Browser and press the Red Record button from the Jaksta extension. The Home screen always display the status as Connecting. No file is created.

Try a reboot and if still not connecting then please provide debug logs as per https://www.jaksta.com/support/windows/technical/jaksta-media-recorder/how-to-generate-debug-logs-6000009063 so I can see what is going on.

Sorry for the long absence.

After the reboot, Jaksta was able to connect to the Vivaldi browser once and recorded about three minutes worth of the program.

Afterwards, we were back to the previous situation.

I have attached the logs.

Can you explain abit more about what you are seeing.

From your logs it looks like you are entering the url in the main JMR interface and then clicking the small DVR icon, at which point the DVR Browser is opening to the URL.

Are you then playing the video and clicking the red record button?  As it doesnt look like that from the logs.

Have you tried opening the DVR browser first and going to the url in the DVR browser, playing the video and then clicking the record button?

Yes to all of the above. The Status in the Jaksta windows remains "Connecting".

I did, but got the same result.

I also tried running "C:\Program Files (x86)\Jaksta Technologies\Jaksta Media Recorder 2022\vsc\vp\Application\vivaldi.exe" directly, the the process closes immediately.

I have also opened the developer console in Vivaldi (after launching it from the large DVR icon in Jaksta).

The dev console stuff is unrelated to JMR.  No need to look there.

If  vivaldi.exe is failing to start then there must be something wrong with its installation.

Please try a full uninstall including deleting settings and library, reboot and reinstall.

To be clear, Vivaldi launches properly from within Jaksta.

It does not launch when I click on  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Jaksta Technologies\Jaksta Media Recorder 2022\vsc\vp\Application\vivaldi.exe". Should that work?

Oh, sorry miss understood.

So you launch the DVR browser (Vivaldi) and navigate to vudu.com, login and start playing the video you want to record and then click the red record button yes?

Does the DVR browser then disappear?  Its should and it should start recording.  Your logs dont show the red button being clicked.  So if you are clicking the red button then something there is broken.

If the red button doesnt work.

1.  Enter vivaldi://extensions/  in the url.

2.  Do you see the two Jaksta DVR extensions and are they enabled?

3.  Are there any other extensions installed?

Yes.

It does not. The Jaksta app status is still "Connecting".

I agree that the extension has a problem. Is there any debugging built into the extension?

     1.  Enter vivaldi://extensions/  in the url.

     2.  Do you see the two Jaksta DVR extensions and are they enabled?

     3.  Are there any other extensions installed?

There are only two extensions installed and they are both active.

The extensions are: Jaksta Digital Video Recorder and Jaksta Digital Video Recorder Settings.
